Melissa Figueiredo is a dance artist born in Salvador - Bahia, Brazil.

Graduated from the FUNCEB Dance School, she holds a magisterium degree in dance from the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) Brazil. She went through different technical training in Ballet, Brazilian traditional dances, Flying Low and Passing Through with David Zambrano, Piso Móvil with Vladimir Rodrigues, and different improvisation approaches. She has experience with movement research, creation, improvisation, video, and writing.

Since 2021, she has been working with the company Sasha Waltz & Guests in Berlin as a dancer and workshop tutor. And with the Mozambican artist Edivaldo Ernesto as an assistant, dancer, and production director. 

She's a co-director and founding member of the Nii/Colaboratório, heading creative projects dialoguing with physicality, cinematography, and dystopian narratives in Brazil. 

Melissa has also been developing her own choreographic and audiovisual works staged at festivals in Brazil, Mexico, France, El Salvador, French Guiana, Costa Rica, Germany, Nicaragua, and Paraguay. 

In the education field, she leads workshops and masterclasses in different schools and festivals in Europe and South America.
