Vebjørn Sundby


Vebjørn Sundby graduated from Norway’s leading national conservatoire for dance KHiO. In 2003 he joined Norway’s national contemporary dance company Carte Blanche, where he performed with the company for six years. During his time at Carte Blanche Vebjørn worked with choreographers including: Sharon Eyal, Ohad Naharin, Ingun Bjørnsgaard, Hofesh Shechter, Ina Christel Johannessen and Jo Strømgren.  

Vebjørn met Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui in the summer of 2009 and by December the same year, was invited to join Larbi’s company- Eastman. With Eastman, Vebjørn has performed: Das Rheingold at Teatro Alla Scala, Rein, Foi, TeZukA, Glimpses, 4D, Shell Shock, Rigor Mortis and Die Walküre. Several of these productions have toured worldwide. Vebjørn also participated in the feature film Anna Karenina, directed by Joe Wright.  

Vebjørn has been invited to choreograph for a number of Norway’s dance conservatoires, including KHiO, Spin Off Forstudium and Trøndetun FHS. In 2014 Vebjørn choreographed Kuroneko for Palermo in Danza. In 2014 and 2015 he choreographed two pieces Before the Rain, and Tidal on the Norwegian National Ballet for Koreografihuset. In 2015 Vebjørn and Guro choreographed their first collaborative piece Linked, which toured nationally.

In 2017 Guro Nagelhus Schia received funding from Akershus County Municipality to founder a new national dance company. Vebjørn was appointed Assistant Artistic Director for Nagelhus Schia Productions.
